If requested for a DB backup to be uploaded to ESS for a creation of a patch follow below;
NOTE: SIMs will be unavailable for ~30 mins while taking backup.
- Login to SIMs server
- Open SQL Server Configuration Manager
- Disable TCP/IP and Named Pipes network protocols for the SQL instance
- Restart SQL server service
- Open DBAttach from the SQL Server installation BIN directory: Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SIMS2014\MSSQL\Binn\DBAttach.exe
- Connect to SQL instance using SA account
- Detach the SIMS DB
- Once detached copy the .LDF and .MDF files to another location from: Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SIMS2014\MSSQL\DATA\SIMS.mdf/ldf
- In DBAttach reattach the SIMS database from: Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SIMS2014\MSSQL\DATA\SIMS.mdf
- In SQL Server Configuration Manager, re-enable the TCP/IP and Named Pipes network protocols
- Restart SQL server service
- SIMs will now be back online for users
- Using 7ZIP compress the 2 DB files in a .ZIP format and apply a secure password
Uploading to ESS;
- Install Filezilla client
- Connect to ESS FTP server at: 195.59.180.148
- Port: 22
- Username is the ESS ticket number
- Password will be supplied from ESS
- Connect to server
- Upload zipped backup into the 'To ESS' folder
- Notify ESS that the upload is complete
- They will request the password for the zip once received
